EcoFarm Organics
Based in Githurai, Kenya outside of the capital city Nairobi, EcoFarm is led by women entrepreneurs and a robust team of volunteers, a majority of whom are youth. Their mission is to regenerate degraded soils, restore ecological balance and empower youth, women, and farmers to co-create climate-resilient livelihoods.
EcoFarm Organics responds to interconnected challenges: soil degradation, organic waste mismanagement, deforestation, dirty cooking fuels, and youth unemployment — through community-led solutions. Their team saves organic waste from being transported 35km to a landfill, turning trash into treasure. In addition to helping urban families start their own kitchen gardens, EcoFarm Organics turns market waste into organic fertilizers and clean cooking solutions. These circular solutions serve as alternatives to expensive chemical fertilizers, and dirty-burning charcoal that drives deforestation.
